Where to
Begin and What to Do
When the event of the
wedding is coming near, the bridal party and any other guests invited
will come together and go out for
a night on the town. The maid of honor is usually responsible for
planning this night of fun. Though it used to be customary for this
night
to happen the night before the wedding, in recent years it has become
usually a weekend ahead of the wedding.
There are some things that are pretty typical for a bachelorette party.
Usually the guests are all female, they bring a gift of
some sort for the bride, and they encompass a night on the town. Often
they begin at someone’s house, or in a restaurant. The girls will
get together for some early socialization, eating, and perhaps a game or
two. There are certain games that are created just for
bachelorette parties, some of which can be closely linked to games you
may have played at parties in your childhood. I can think of
one, though I’ve forgotten the name, where you pin a certain part of the
male anatomy to a poster of a full-sized, half nude, male person.
There are other games that may be played at a bachelorette party in a
home as well, most of which surround the same type of idea as
the last. Gifts that are brought for the bride to be are usually given
at this time also. Most of the time, the bride-to-be is given gifts such
as negligees or other items that are primarily used in intimate moments
between the couple.
Sometimes dinner is served at the house in which the party starts, other
times the girls go from that party to a dinner in a
restaurant. This would probably be the tamest part of the night. The
girls typically will eat at the restaurant and enjoy a few drinks.
Sometimes the girls will have the bride to be say something at this
event in an address to all of them. Most of the girls will finish their
meals by enjoying a cocktail or two before they leave the restaurant.
Once the meal has been had, the girls will typically be on their way
to a night of dancing in clubs in a nearby city or if they are not near
a city, then they’ll go dancing in a local club.
At this point in the evening, the bride to be will often wear a veil
which will fall over the back of her head instead of the front.
This is the indicator to others that are out that she is the bride and
the one being celebrated. The evening is typically a pretty late one.
The group may stay out anywhere from around 2 to 4am. As a group, they
then may decide to go to an all night restaurant to cap off the
night with some breakfast before they say their goodbyes. It’s easy to
see why this could not happen the night before the wedding. If
that were the case, many brides would still be sleeping at their
appointed alter times. Since no one, especially the bride, wants this to
happen, the event that used to happen the night before the wedding got
pushed back to the weekend prior to the event.
There are several novelty items available for use on the night of the
bachelorette party. In addition to the veil that the impending
bride must wear, some fun lovers will also pick up a few additional
items for her. There are candy necklaces that some will have random
guys eat off the bride to be’s neck.
There are t-shirts that list all of
the things the bride to be must accomplish before the end of the
night such as dancing with a random guy, taking a shot with a random
guy, etcetera. There are ring pop type suckers and regular
suckers shaped into a certain part of the male anatomy. All one has to
do is enter a novelty item store and they are sure to find many
things that can bring additional fun to the night out with the girls.
A bachelorette party is an event in which the soon to be bride is
celebrated by all of her friends and family of the female
persuasion. They are meant to be nights of fun and general partying with
the girls. It is a celebration of the bride-to-be’s step forward into
a married life, but is also a night to let loose and have a good time.
Planning a wedding is a stressful time for any bride, she deserves at
least one night to let it all go and have a good time.
