Wedding Photography Options
Brainstorming for the
Best Pictures
Your wedding day is swiftly approaching and you do not have much time to
decide about wedding pictures. How are you going to capture all the hard
work, the people and the feelings that have gone into preparing for the
big day? Today the most popular style of photo is photojournalism. This
captures each nuance most objectively. However, in order to have an
album that is perfectly balanced, you must think about formal photos as
well.
In order to have just the right balance to your wedding photos you
should have just the right amount of candid shots along with some formal
shots for family posterity. Keep in mind that the shorter the formal
sessions are, the fresher the photographs will be. Try to go for a mix
of both formal and unconventional shots allowing approximately 30
minutes for the formal session.
Timing is everything when you think about taking photographs of your
wedding. The rule of thumb is to allow for about five minutes for every
photo set-up on your list. If you feel you are getting stressed because
the photo session is taking too long and the reception is swiftly
approaching, the you always have the option of rescheduling some of the
photos such as just after the first course is finished. Believe it or
not stress leads to anxiety, and this can show in the photos. One thing
you may wish to consider is to engage another photographer to shoot only
behind-the-scenes photos. This will add another aspect to your wedding
album.
By shooting on different types of film, your photographer can add
dimension, texture and variety to your photographs. Try to stick to a
camera that has a medium format. This type of camera results in larger
negatives, and this allows your photographer to produce enlargements
without having to compromise on the quality of your photos. Using a
digital camera may be another choice you want to consider. It allows
your photographer to snap those candid shots faster than an ordinary
camera.
When considering your wedding album, you may want to ask your
photographer to use some exciting formats and lenses that will allow for
a nice variety of pictures. For example, a wonderful way of capturing
intimate portraits of the newly wed couple is to use an antique pinhole
or a Diana camera. These give the photographs a soft, almost surreal
quality and the pictures seem to have a glowing aura. Two other
innovative choices are using infrared film and slide film. The latter
technique produces super-saturated colors. Make sure you are in constant
communication with your photographer concerning all of these options.
Here is a way that an instant wedding album can be created. Hire a
professional photographer or enlist the services of a friend to take
Polaroids of all of the wedding guests. They can then be slipped into a
photo scrapbook or a special photo book that is ready on the table. The
pictures will be inserted right on the spot, and then everyone can write
their own personal message to the newlyweds.
What if it rains on your most memorable day? Will your photos be ruined?
On the contrary! Have two big umbrellas at hand so the bride and groom
can stand under them with the umbrellas tilted slightly back. The
photographer can take some beautiful shots with the rain gently falling
from the back of the umbrellas and the raindrops falling softly in
puddles around the feet of the bride and groom. These photographs can be
quite romantic.
You must now decide on the type of album you want. The traditional style
album are usually very sturdy, tend to endure age and they use better
than other styles. These albums come in leather, suede, faux leather and
canvas. If you want to be more creative then try a fabric album. Some of
these can be very expensive and delicate. A modern option to consider is
the coffee-table book. It is like a magazine created just for you. These
albums come in a variety of colors and materials. If a photo album is
not for you, then make sure to purchase your digital files from the
photographer. You can keep these photos on your hard drive; make slide
shows and whenever you wish you can order prints.
Speaking of wedding albums, it may be a nice idea to start an
anniversary album. On every anniversary, take a photo or a roll of film
and keep them together in one anniversary album. Begin with your wedding
pictures. Every year, add a shot of you both that shows the changes in
your lives such as your new car, your new house, and new children. When
it is time for your children to be married, they will have plenty of old
photographs in your anniversary album to use for their own wedding.
Here is another creative idea for a wedding album. You could entitle it
something like “Then and Now”. On one page, select baby pictures of the
bride and groom and on the opposite page put pictures of the wedding. Do
this throughout the album beginning at babyhood and ending just before
the wedding. This will surely capture many memories!
Here is another innovative type of album. You could choose a title
something like “Before and After”. Have friends take candid but
appropriate shots at the bachelor and bachelorette parties. Then when
you go on your honeymoon make sure to take your camera and plenty of
film along. When putting this unique album together, you can intersperse
pictures of your “before” marriage parties with those of your honeymoon.
Creativity is the key!
As you can see, there are so very many ways to come up with beautiful,
creative shots for your wedding no matter what the weather may be
outside or what the mood happens to be inside. Plan all within your
budget, and your wedding is sure to be one that will never be forgotten.
