Cut the Cost of Your Wedding Budget

Keeping an Eye on Wedding Expenses

Weddings are an exciting time in any couple's lives. Unfortunately, a damper can be put on that excitement of you are always worrying about how much it is all going to cost. Here are some simple things that you can do to cut the cost of your wedding budget.

First of all, keep the guest list small. Don't invite all those people who are simply acquaintances. Only put people on the guest list if you cannot imagine your special day without them. Family members and close friends are the folks you most want to share this time with. By doing this, you will slash your budget considerably.

Having a less formal reception can also be much less expensive. If you are getting married in the summer months you could even have a fun reception in your backyard or a picturesque park. These laid back events are great for relaxing and having a great time.

If you want something a little more traditional, simply scale back on the food. Serve more simple and classic fare and serve it up buffet style.

Flowers can be super expensive, but if you choose ones that are in season you can get a much better deal. Shop around to
different florists to get the best price, and don't be afraid to compromise if you find a great deal.

Limos are classic, but expensive. If you don't want to drive yourself, choose a smaller car, like a Lincoln and have the
wedding party provide their own ride. It will give you and your new spouse a few minutes alone together before the reception too.

When choosing your wedding dress, shop the racks. If you can find a beautiful dress that you love on the rack, you can save
hundreds by purchasing the floor model instead of ordering it. Even if you need a few minor alterations, the cash saved will be well worth it.

Get tuxedos at a rental store. If the entire wedding party rents from the same place, often the groom's tux is free. This is a
great way to save some money and make it easier on everyone.

Keep the decorations for the ceremony and the reception as simple as you can. It is also a great money saver to do the
decorations yourself. If you get your bridesmaids to help you, you can have it done in no time for a fraction of the cost. Don't go overboard on flowers and ribbons for the church. A few well placed bouquets will do nicely, or if the church is fancy you may not need to  do anything.

Centerpieces for the reception can be as simple as a candle burning in a pretty votive cup. Put a mirror underneath and you have an instant decoration.

The cake is one of the centerpieces of a reception. Don't get too crazy though. A pretty cake with classic (and tasty) butter
cream icing will be well received. You can even make the wedding cake small and have several sheet cakes in the back to cut in pieces and serve to your guests. They will never know the difference and you will save lots of money.

Be creative and look for ways to do it yourself. If you look for money saving opportunities you can significantly cut the cost of your wedding budget without sacrificing beauty and style.
