The Groom Style

Unique Wedding Ideas for the Groom

Sure, it's common knowledge that brides are going to be the center of attention at any wedding, but have you ever stopped to consider what role the groom is supposed to play? Of course he is important too, right? Without the groom there would be no wedding, so what sense does it make to belittle the importance of the groom in a wedding, as well as his appearance. Just as it is important for the bride to look and feel glamorous and fabulous, it is just as important for the groom to look and feel equally fabulous. Here are a few unique ideas to help your groom stand out and look and feel as important as they are to the whole marriage and wedding idea in the first place.

First of all, the new thing for grooms is to do away with the traditional penguin style tux idea. This means no ruffles, no butler coats and no bow ties, at least not in the traditional sense. In addition, many of the traditional bridegroom tuxes on the market have done away with the more traditional idea of a cummerbund wrapped around the waist of the groom and putting a waistcoat or vest in its place. This gives a bit more of a casual feel to the whole tux idea while still keeping things fashionable and sensible, and fit for a wedding.

While the fact that traditional bowties are on the outs in the new and fashionable wedding, it is important to consider the role of neckwear for the groom and the groomsmen as well. Neckwear can really make or break the look of a tuxedo, and there are so many choices as to what to wear around the neck it can be a bit mind boggling. If your tuxedo is rather modest as it is, you are left with a few options as far as neckwear that can be explored and implemented without overdoing it. If you have a plain black or a plain white tux, you have the freedom to kick some color into the ordeal by way of your neckwear. Add some pizzazz to your tux by picking a complementary colored necktie or bowtie to bring the wedding party all together. Is your flower of choice a bright red rose? Finding an equally red piece of neckwear might help to keep things together as far as color selections go, and it is a great way to show people at the wedding that grooms are interested in fashion, too.

Another one of the new and fashionable ways to complete the bridegroom’s ensemble is to really go out there as far as the buttonhole is concerned. Most grooms have small boutonnières, using carnations or small roses to add a splash of color and freshness to his outfit. What if you used a bigger, brighter flower for your buttonhole? A small bouquet of flowers, if you will, for the braver bridegrooms out there. Whether you are the groom or you know the groom will be a man about it, trying more interesting flowers and flower arrangements for his buttonhole is a great way to bring a fashionable appeal to any groom’s tux.

Contrary to popular belief, shoes are an important part of an outfit and even for grooms. Of course, the attention is going to be on your upper body and the bride, but don’t you want to feel as good as you look? Having a stylish and well-fitting, comfortable pair of shoes can really complete your ‘groomification’ and is a great way to bring some of your personal style into the deal. Leave the sneakers in your closet and if anything, let your wedding be the one and only time you wear ridiculously shiny and expensive hard shoes.

To be the best looking groom that you could possibly be, make sure to complete the effect. With all of the hustle and bustle about the bride’s dress, the guest list, the caterer, and the flower guy it can be hard to forget about the small details for the groom. Get a haircut (a good one). Get lined up, shaved, trimmed--whatever it takes to look your best on your special day. Also, get a manicure so your hands will be velvety soft and perfect, in a manly way of course, on your special day.

Remember, the bride and the groom should be equally important and equally tended to on the big wedding day.

This means that every care taken for the bride short of a pedicure should be exhausted on making the groom look his finest as well.
