Wedding Guest Accommodation Ideas
Accommodating your
wedding guests in your wedding is an important factor to keep everyone
happy and content. There are different needs and demands that guests
might have that you need to consider and satisfy in order to please them
and be thoughtful of their time as well. You can avoid problems with
your wedding guests with accommodation ideas.
Wedding Guest Accommodation Ideas –
Guests love to be included in your special day and are often honored to
be selected as a guest. They look forward to sharing your wedding day
with you and having a little fun while they do. While your guests may
get teary eyed and seem all smiles during the ceremony, it is the
reception that is where all the fun happens for both you and your
guests. Keep the ceremony all about the two of you, and allow some room
for guest accommodations with the reception. Make sure you choose your
reception site well ahead of time to avoid those that have year long
waiting lists. During your wedding plans, this should be at the top of
the list to be booked right away. There are many different kinds of
reception sites to choose from, including hotels, country clubs,
catering halls, restaurants, and more. Of course, you can also choose to
have an outdoor reception. Just keep your guests in mind when choosing.
You may need to have a tent for an outdoors reception for those who like
to be in the shade, or even if it rains. A good caterer will be nice to
present your guests with a variety of snacks so that everyone can snack
on something they enjoy.
There may be guests that will be traveling to your wedding ceremony and
reception locations. Make sure you keep them in mind by choosing some
special rooms at good rates that you can reserve for them. Make their
stay in town enjoyable and memorable. Get in contact with your local
hotel and negotiate a group rate. This will give your guests a private
place to be and sleep, and you will be saving them some money as well.
All you have to do is let the hotel know about your wedding, about how
many rooms you will need, and then have someone who is helping you plan
your wedding coordinate the reservations for you and finalize them with
your guests. This will let your guests stay in town without feeling
uncomfortable if they have to impose, it will give them some time
together like a mini vacation just for them, and even allow them the
privacy that we all want.
The Dos and Do Nots –
Do allow a mixed set of bridesmaids and groomsmen. Sometimes one side
can be larger than the other and just look strange. Sometimes you and
your partner may be friends with all of them, so feel free to mix them
up!
Do not go overboard with an extremely religious wedding ceremony. It can
make guests feel like they are trying to get converted to a certain
religion rather than be there to witness your beautiful wedding day.
Sometimes you can just talk to your priest about it and let them know
that you want to focus on your wedding ceremony, not the religion.
Do check out your musician before you hire them. Some of them really
can’t sing! That is not something you want your guests to remember about
your wedding ceremony. Make the musician or band play for you before you
hire them. If they make you laugh out loud, they may not be the best for
your wedding ceremony. Remember the movie The Wedding Singer?
Do not have a huge gap between the wedding ceremony and the reception.
This makes your guests wait until the reception with nothing to do in
the meantime. Make sure the reception is ready to go when you leave the
ceremony.
Do not have someone go around with a video camera and microphone asking
everyone if they have something they would like to say. Some people are
just camera shy. You could either nix this option, or let the guy know
that he does not have to be in everyone’s face about it. He could just
stand there with a sign, or something else that is not so in your face.
Do keep specific relatives and friends at the proper tables. It is very
uncomfortable to be sitting at a table with people you hardly know, or
do not know at all! Seat singles together with a good girl to boy
balance so they can mingle and flirt. Keep relatives and friends that
know each other at the same tables.
