Popping The
Question
Asking for
your love’s hand in marriage can be exciting, overwhelming and sometimes
confusing. How should it be done? Do you want to propose in a
traditional manner, a clever manner, a unique one, or one that no one
would ever think of? Traditionally, a man in love would propose to his
love in a nice restaurant or other scenery with a beautiful diamond
engagement ring he spent a year’s worth of salary on. However,
traditional methods have lost their thrill in the past years. If you ask
your girlfriend to a nice restaurant she might already know what is
going to happen. Also, women are tending to propose to men as well. The
tables have been turned in every which way. That is not to say that a
traditional method of popping the question is a bad thing. It is
beautiful, especially when you add a little of your personality to it,
such as watching the sunset after, going for a walk on the beach, or
going to another favorite place like where you both met.
The Art of Surprise –
Most women would love to be surprised when they are proposed to. Think
about how you both will be telling the story to friends and family about
your engagement night and how good of a story it will be. Women love a
great engagement story to tell.
A Traditional Approach –
If you and your love have been living together you might want to do
something simple but fun at home. You could hide the ring somewhere you
know she will find it and be surprised. You could attach a note to it,
or just leave the ring. She’ll be surprised to find her engagement ring
in the fridge when looking for a snack, or even in the bathroom!
Get the Girls Involved –
Get her friends involved (they will love it!) by planning a trip
somewhere. She will just think that she’s going off on a girl’s trip
somewhere, but you will be at the airport waiting for her with the ring
in hand. The girls go home and you and your new bride to be will be off
to spend some time together after your engagement.
Clever Surprise –
Find something that you both do together all of the time, such as
watching a television show every Friday night, going for a walk in the
morning, etc. Pop the question and really surprise her.
Where you Met –
A definite romantic will love to get proposed to at the same place the
two of you met. You could even recreate the night you met with the same
conversation topics, or other things and she’ll think you’ve lost it or
at least something is weird. Then you surprise her with the ring.
Unique Proposal –
You could get strangers involved such as having a group of people bring
her flowers at work and lead her to where you are to pop the question.
