Unique
Wedding Ideas To Spice Up Your Wedding Day
One of the most important and special days in anyone’s life is their
wedding day. From planning the event for months before, to the big day
itself with all your friends and family, it’s a special time in
everyone’s life that will last a lifetime in the memory. Never has this
been more so with the increase in popularity of wedding days that are a
little out of the norm.
Whereas the traditional bride in white and groom in tails or suit is
still highly popular, now more and more couples are looking for that
something different to make their special day all that more memorable.
Whether it’s in the design of the dress, or the location of the wedding
itself, or even something unique and original for the reception, there
are many ideas that you too can use to spice up your wedding day.
The Wedding Dress
The integral part of the wedding day ever since the first union, the
wedding dress has come to represent the bride’s moral and virginal
status. However, in this day and age of couple living together before
marriage, white no longer seems to be as important a color.
Instead, why not look at velvet red, or even black, which is increasing
in popularity with couples all over the world. Or don’t wear a dress at
all – get married in the clothes that you both first met in (as long as
it wasn’t at the swimming pool)! Although that could be fun, too.
This is your day, so you should get married in whatever you feel
comfortable in. And if you’re worried about the reaction of people, just
remember that it is your day, and that your friends and family should be
happy for you no matter what.
The Vows
As much a part of the wedding day as the dress is, the vows are the
promise you’re making to each other for the married life ahead. However,
many people are now writing their own vows, since they mean more to them
personally than the standard prose.
Therefore, why not get your guests involved? Email everyone and ask them
to come up with how they think you should both look after each other.
After all, these are the people that know you best (after yourselves,
off course) and it may just make the ceremony all that more inclusive
and special, and not to mention humorous.
Gifts That Are Different
Although the wedding day is traditionally the time when you receive
gifts from those attending (and also those who cannot make it), turn
this tradition on its head and give all your guests silly little gifts
instead. Place disposable cameras on everyone’s table, and ask them to
come up with the silliest pictures around, with a special prize for the
best.
Or buy a lucky dip lottery ticket for each guest, or a scratch card. Not
only is this fun, and will have everyone busily looking to see if
they’ve won, but imagine the extra joy your day will have if you buy
someone a ticket that wins!
Have A Theme
Weddings generally follow the same formula – bride in white, groom in
suit or tails, church and reception. But why should you stick to this?
There are hundreds of other themed ideas you can come up with that will
make your day all that more unique to you and your partner.
For instance, if you’re both music fans, why not incorporate this into
the proceedings? Speak to the minister, and see if he or she will allow
you to decorate the church with posters or CD cases of your favorite
bands. Have their music playing as the guests arrive and take their
places.
Themes are good because they can work on so many levels, and since you
are both bound to have more than one thing in common with each other,
the choices are certainly more numerous than the standard wedding day
procedure.
Miscellaneous Ideas
As you can see, there are virtually no limits on what unique wedding
ideas you can use to spice up your wedding day. Other ideas can be
having a large picture frame where guests can insert a Polaroid
photograph of themselves, so you have a picture of your whole guest
list, or having a guest book that everyone can sign with their own
special message.
Whatever you decide to do, do it with the knowledge that although it may
not be traditional, it’s the wedding that YOU want, and it’ll certainly
stand out from the usual big day fare.
