Unique
Wedding Vow Ideas
As weddings are
continuing to leave tradition behind now days, more and more people are
beginning to write their own unique wedding vows. Gone are the days when
every couple repeated the same vows, but now the vows are as unique as
each bride and groom. Coming up with your own wedding vows is much more
personal and you can tailor them to your relationship to make sure that
you have the perfect words to say to each other on your wedding day. It
may end up being quite a task when you begin writing your wedding vows,
so here are a few things that may help you out.
Remember Special Moments
When you are writing your own unique wedding vows you may want to
remember special moments that you have had in your relationship. These
moments can be inspirational for your vows, and you may even want to
mention one or two of the moments in your vows. If there was a special
moment when you realized that he or she was the one, then you may want
to include that in your wedding vows.
Use Sentimental Lines
You may also want to consider using some sentimental lines in your
unique wedding vows as well. Whether they are lines from your favorite
poem, from a movie, or even your special song, they will add a great
addition to your wedding vows. While you want to avoid making your vows
sound cliché, using some sentimental lines that are important and
significant to the two of you is an excellent idea.
Religious Considerations
If you and your fiancé are both religious, you may want to consider
adding some references to your religion into your vows as well. Perhaps
you want to mention that your vows are a promise before God or you may
want to mention your commitment to your faith and your spouse. When
religion is a deep part of your life, you probably will want to include
this in your wedding vows too.
Keep the Language Simple and Heartfelt
While you are writing your wedding vows, you want to be sure that you
keep the language simple and heartfelt. No need to use excessive flower
language. Remember, this isn’t Shakespeare, these are your wedding vows.
Use language that is straight from your heart to communicate your
feelings for each other and avoid vows that sound forced or overly
flowery.
Avoid Making Them Too Long
One of the most important things to remember when you are writing your
own vows is to make sure you do not make them too long. Yes, you want to
make them meaningful and heartfelt, but no one, including your fiancé is
going to want to hear you give a fifteen minute monologue. So, keep the
vows you write short, sweet, and to the point.
Don’t Be Afraid to Use Humor
If you want to make your wedding vows unique, don’t be afraid to use a
bit of humor. Vows that touch the emotions are important, and while part
of your vows may brings tears to your fiancé’s eyes, you may want to
bring some laughter as well. Remember, laughter is going to be an
important part of your marriage, so go ahead and use a bit of humor to
make your vows unique.
Use Dialogue
While most traditional wedding vows include the groom speaking his vows
and then the bride speaking her vows, you may want to make them unique
by including some dialogue. Sit down together and figure out what you
both want to say, and then come up with a way to say it with dialogue.
Discuss how you met, your views on love, your promises to each other,
and your view of the future together. Be sure to come up with an order
in which the two of you will speak, and then let your vows flow out
naturally like a conversation.
Talk About the Future
Another thing to consider when righting unique wedding views is the
future. Think about where you want to be as a couple and what your
future will be like together. Then include your thoughts about your
future together in your wedding vows.
Profess Your Love
Of course your own wedding vows would not be complete without declaring
your love. Whether you just say “I love you,” or come up with your own
unique way of professing your love, be sure that you do. Use your vows
to let everyone know how much you love your new spouse and how you
intend that love to last forever. |
